Greetings Bitter People of the Internet Blogosphere. Bitter Ben here from First World Problemia. I have a complaining-about-first-world-problems problem and people at work started noticing so they started calling me Bitter Ben. A long time ago, I learned in marketing that you should find a need and fill it. I started noticing that a lot of people like to complain about little things, but they felt ashamed to do it, because they felt like they were being petty. So I came up with the idea to start a 900 line (1-900-BITR-BEN), where people could call and complain about all the little things that drove them crazy, but the twist was that the Customer Service Rep could also complain back. This would not only allow all the complainers to get it out of their systems, but the call would be longer and I would get more money. This lead me to come up with my tag line, “We make bitter better.” That idea failed because of a number of reasons, so instead I did the next best thing. Start a blog with the same mission. For free. For now. But someday, you will be eating in Bitter Themed Restaurants, reading Bitter themed novels, and wearing bitter oversized T-shirts. Everytime you hear someone say bitter you will think of me or this blog and you will pay a fee just for thinking about it.
So for now, jump into this safe bitter filled environment, where you are free to complain as bitterly as you like. No matter how petty, all bitterness is free to roam these wide open bitter halls, or meadows if you prefer. Comment the heck out of every post, because you can be sure I will comment right back with more bitterness. Let’s “Make Bitter Better”.

Hi Bitter Ben! I’ve been seeing your many interesting posts on Authentically Aurora’s blog, which I absolutely love her blog as a fellow INTJ but I wanted to check out your blog and I find it interesting! Seems like you discuss many important topics! You got another follower!

Lol! I love making the famous INTJ ” The Stare” that sends fear into people’s hearts! I truly love to laugh and smile and I always try to make my blog inspirational to people who are dealing with the tough things of life. Although, some of my posts are a lot darker or “bitter” as you would say! 🙂

Well I have resting bitter face and that usually scares people, but if they are especially clueless, I use the stare. No one can get within my bubble when I use both.
LikeLike
Yes, I have perfected my stare over time and most of the time, it’s used as a “Don’t mess me” kind of expression. People can’t seem to take someone who has enough confidence to stare me in the eyes so they usually look away for a second but then they look back (out of curiousity) to only see me still staring at me. Lol! It’s kind of funny! The only kind of people to resist “The Stare” are babies/people under age 2. They then start to do their creepy smile and it disturbs me and I feel like the Grinch Who Stole Christmas after he realizes the real meaning of Christmas….this feeling then makes me want to smile and then it makes them smile even more. So I’ve quit this look at them even though a lot of babies annoy me!

Love your blog and the whole idea of bitter is better, Ben. My sister and I had a room mate in NYC while in our early twenties.. As the three of us were watching telly one afternoon and my sister and I went through our normal dialogue of critiquing commercials, actors, sitcoms and just about anything else that came on screen, new roomie comments “You too complain about everything!” So add us to your bitter world though we do love fun too! and always deliver bitter with a smile! Look forward to reading your blog. Thanks for liking mine. I have a couple of other funny tales that I would love you to read. Thanks for following and I hope I don’t disappoint. Acutally I do, so you have something new to complain about!

Yeah, Christmas can be a sensitive subject. That’s why I try to tow the line on that pretty conservatively. Halloween or Thanksgiving, no problem. But there are definitely parts of Christmas or the “holidays” that can be made fun of. IE Black Friday and the commercialization of things…

Actually, I’m fully in sympathy with your site concept. Many years ago I wrote some fiction ‘Letters of Complaint’. It was/is humour. Perhaps I should get it out of the bottom of the trunk.
