Back in the Swing of Friday Giftures

It’s been a long time coming, but someone finally accepted this big ball of bitterness into their office. I will be starting to raise the bitterness quotient dramatically into a new company starting on Monday. I will now have something new to complain about. That’s right. I got a job. What is quite ironic is that it will be writing content for a school software company. Isn’t the educational system going to be glad that someone is teaching their kids to be more bitter? Anyways, the problem will now be me trying to get back in the swing of having to wake up and get dressed. Also having to stay at an office for a complete day instead of interviewing, then getting the heck back home to watch the Office instead of staying at the office. Oh, boy are things about to get interesting…

Starting with…

…learning how to deal with two bosses.

Trying to keep…

…from being too enthusiastic to leave.

Trying to learn…

…the new computer system.

Trying to learn…

…how deal with the new cubicle.

Trying to remain…

…laser focused.

Trying not to give up…

….when running my head into problems.

Especially when people…

…send me problems on purpose.

Then there is the problem…

…of trying to figure out how to get to work.

And trying to figure out what project…

…to tackle next.

And having to deal with…

…the long shadow of the people that came before me.

And those oh so pesky meetings…

…that blindside you.

Who knows though…

…maybe the slide into regression will happen slowly.

Well, there you have it. The last bitter post I’m doing as an unemployed schlub, until I screw it next time. Now I have something completely new and exciting to be bitter about (for your sakes).

  1. There was a song back in my hippie days about getting a job……Morrison probably. Can’t remember it at all actually but thought in your bitterness you would remember and I could say “ah, that’s it!”. anyway, whoever it was should have thought a bit more carefully and added the word bitter to the lyrics. have no real thoughts at all, just babbling at this point to give you something non-job-related to be bitter about later on. Cheers!

  2. Good luck. I, too, have to find a new job. And I am not happy about it. Everybody keeps suggesting places, and I’m like, “Thanks, but I didn’t ask you to suggest places. I got this under control.”

  3. I’m bummed for you…..that you have to get back into the grind but there are bills to be paid unfortunately. You need pizza and more video games and shit like that right? Congrats? I look forward to the bitter complaints 🙂

  4. You know, I’m really not crazy about Morrissey, but I gotta say, he did use a great line in one of his songs, “I was looking for a job and now I found a job, and heaven knows I’m miserable now.”

  5. Congratulations on the new job!!! So glad you’ve convinced someone to let you into their school to increase the bitterness quotient. As I go off trying to inspire kids at school, you will balance me out by teaching them the ways of bitterness. All is right with the world.
